Twisted Mirror – Your suffering isn’t real unless they can code it.
Everyone’s burnt out.
That’s what they say now.
It’s trending.
There are mugs.
Memes.
Merchandise.
#SelfCareForTheChronicallyExhausted
But go to a doctor,
say: “I can’t focus, I can’t sleep, I cry on the floor, I feel like my brain’s on fire.”
And they’ll ask:
“Are you actively suicidal, or just tired?”
Because burnout isn’t in the billing manual.
There’s no ICD code for:
“The system squeezed me dry.”
So they call it something else:
Adjustment disorder.
Mild depression.
General malaise.
Anything they can match to a reimbursement.
Meanwhile, your body keeps the receipt:
- Migraines.
- Missed meals.
- Shortened fuse.
- Lost days.
- Gut pain.
- Isolation.
- Collateral damage in relationships you didn’t know you were breaking.
They tell you to breathe.
To sleep more.
To log off.
But the system never logs off.
The machine runs 24/7
and punishes you for pausing.
You’re not burned out.
You’re just lazy, right?
Just weak.
Just “unfit for hustle.”
Until you break.
And even then—
it’s your fault for not managing it better.
Burnout may be popular.
But it’s still not profitable.
And healing
still isn’t covered.
