An old boat sat, collecting some rust,
Bliss had a dream, in that dream she did trust.
But Dick, the jackass, had schemes up his sleeve,
He scrapped the old boat—oh, how Bliss would grieve.
Yet in Dream Whirld, you see, there’s always a twist,
Where Dick’s dirty tricks never quite do exist!
Bliss (formerly Betty), with her ever-bright attitude and knack for turning problems into dreams, had always had one little desire: to take out that rusty, dusty boat behind the barn. Sure, it was ancient. Sure, it looked more like a floating scrap pile than anything seaworthy. But in Dream Whirld, anything could happen, and Bliss was sure that boat held the key to a peaceful day on the water with Serena (formerly Petunia) and the mini herd.
One warm afternoon, with the sun shining in just the right way, Bliss decided it was time to give that boat a new life. She imagined gliding across the water with Serena and the mini cows lounging on deck like little royalty. She smiled at the thought.
Enter Dick, the ever-snarky yellow jackass, with a devilish gleam in his eye. He’d caught wind of Bliss’s boat dream and, of course, wasn’t having any of it. He waddled up to her, trying to look important, but it was hard to take him seriously with a face like that.
“That boat ain’t worth the dust it’s gathering,” Dick snorted, kicking at the hull with his hoof. “Besides, I scrapped the motor for a few bucks. Got feed for the crows!” His signature smug grin spread across his face.
Bliss looked at him, amusement glittering in her eyes. “Oh really, Dick? You think you’re so clever, huh?”
Serena, ever the peaceful observer, trotted over, giving Dick a little nudge. It wasn’t aggressive, but it was enough to make the jackass stumble a bit. He regained his balance, shooting Serena an irritated look as she pranced back to Bliss’ side.
Bliss didn’t even bat an eye. She was already onto her next big idea. “Well, Dick, guess what? That little motor you scrapped? I had it replaced last week. Brand new, top of the line.” She waved her hand dramatically at the boat.
Dick’s ears perked up, and his eyes widened. “What? How?!” He stomped his hoof in frustration.
Bliss let out a little chuckle. “Oh, and did I mention the boat’s been retrofitted with a solar engine too? No gas needed! It’s practically the dream boat now.” She grinned wider, watching the yellow jackass’s face twitch.
Serena bleated softly, giving a nod of approval. Even the mini cows mooed in excitement as they trotted closer, eager for their ride. The boat was about to set sail, and Bliss was going to make sure it was a trip to remember.
Dick, ever desperate to one-up Bliss, wasn’t going to be left out of the fun. “I’ll come too!” he announced, puffing out his chest like he had a right to be there. After all, he was sure Bliss had no idea how to captain a boat.
But in Dream Whirld, Bliss was always ten steps ahead. She welcomed Dick aboard with a mischievous smile. “Of course, Dick. Front seat for you.”
With the crows cawing their usual sarcastic remarks in the distance and the ducks quacking words of encouragement—“You’re going to float through this, Bliss! Don’t let anyone rock your boat!”—Bliss and Serena climbed aboard, followed by the mini herd. Dick, still smug, flopped onto the front seat, looking like he was ready to play captain.
The boat roared to life, its sleek new motor humming along. Bliss steered effortlessly, the wind in her hair as they cruised across the peaceful lake. The mini cows mooed in delight, the mini horses neighed, and Serena basked in the serenity of it all.
But Dick? He was having a bit of a rough time.
Turns out, Bliss had placed his seat right above a sneaky little trapdoor. With a sly grin, she gave Serena a wink. “Ready?” she whispered.
Serena gave a soft “baa” of agreement, and with a click of a button, the trapdoor swung open. SPLASH! Dick went tumbling straight into the water, his smug face replaced with utter shock as he flailed around in the lake.
The crows couldn’t contain themselves. “You’re swimming with the fishes now, Dick!” one caw’d. “Hope you brought a towel!” another chimed in, as they circled overhead, teasing him mercilessly.
Dick, now soaking wet and sputtering, scrambled back aboard, only to find that the boat had moved far out into the middle of the lake. His usual sabotage had not only failed—it had made Bliss’ day even better.
“Don’t worry, Dick,” Bliss called from the captain’s chair, laughing as she pulled him aboard. “In Dream Whirld, everything floats—except your bad attitude!”
Dick flopped onto the deck, soaking wet and fuming. Meanwhile, Bliss and Serena sat back, enjoying the sunshine and the peace of the moment. The boat glided gracefully across the lake, and in that instant, Bliss realized that no matter how hard Dick tried to wreck her plans, the Funny Farm would always come out on top.
As for Dick? Well, he’d just have to learn to float along—or keep sinking.
